A men's sheepskin coat is the heaviest layer most wardrobes own, so the first decision is not color but length. This collection runs from waist-length B-3 bombers to hip-length car coats and long hooded winter coats. Every coat is made to order, most in sizes XS to 5XL, and any of them can be made to your own measurements.
| Length | Styles in this collection | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Waist length | B-3 bombers, RAF and pilot jackets, cross-zip aviators | Driving, city commutes, layering over a sweater |
| Hip length | Car coats, double-breasted coats, hooded bomber coats | Everyday cold weather with more cover over jeans or trousers |
| Long | Long coats with fur collars, hooded winter coats, a slim aviator trench, a B-3 overcoat, a B-7 parka | The coldest days, long walks and waiting outdoors |
The B-3 was developed in the 1930s for American bomber crews flying in unheated aircraft, and its shape has barely changed: a short leather body, a wide shearling collar that closes with straps, and a heavy front zip. Here you'll find B-3s in brown, dark brown, black, grey and army green, including hooded versions and waxed finishes. RAF-style jackets follow the British wartime flying jacket, often with panelled or two-tone leather. For more short shearling styles, browse our men's shearling jackets.
A car coat stops around the hip, so it covers more than a bomber but stays easy to sit and drive in. The black sheepskin car coat and the brown double-breasted coat are the cleanest options here, and they sit well over a shirt and knitwear for work. Hooded bomber coats give the same length with a more casual feel.
Long sheepskin coats are for real winter. Choose between fur-collared long coats in black or brown, hooded long winter coats, a slim-fit aviator trench and longer flight-inspired designs like the B-7 parka. If long coats are what you're after, our men's shearling long coats collection has more of them.
Sheepskin is the hide of the sheep, and shearling is sheepskin with the wool left on. In this collection, sheepskin refers to the leather: many coats use genuine sheepskin leather for the outer, and every coat is real leather unless the product title says otherwise. The shearling-look collars, linings and trims are faux by default, and real shearling is available on request, so mention it when you order. Each product page names the leather used for that coat. For a longer explanation of the two terms, read sheepskin vs. shearling.
Sheepskin coats are thick, so plan for what you'll wear underneath. If you usually layer a heavy sweater, compare the coat's chest measurement with a winter coat you already own rather than a lightweight jacket. Long coats should close comfortably over your thickest layer without pulling at the buttons. If you sit between sizes or have longer arms, choose the custom option and send your measurements.

Hang the coat on a broad hanger so the shoulders keep their shape. If it gets wet, let it dry naturally at room temperature, away from radiators and direct heat. Brush the collar and trims gently to keep them full, and use a specialist leather or sheepskin cleaner for stains.
The terms overlap. Sheepskin is the hide, and shearling is sheepskin with the wool still attached. A "shearling coat" usually means the wool side faces in as the lining and shows at the collar and cuffs.
The outer is real leather, and many coats use genuine sheepskin leather; each product page names the leather. Shearling-look collars, linings and trims are faux by default, and real shearling is available on request.
Choose a waist-length B-3 if you drive a lot or want to layer, a hip-length car coat for daily wear, and a long coat if you spend time outdoors in real cold.
